One thing I noticed about the head: for some reason the previous owner installed a TS jack in the back for the speaker, but used electrical tape to insulate the jack from the chassis. Anybody know why that might have been done? Thanks!

Butchnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2534195963488802319.post-9193063639335961102020-12-03T16:11:27.922-08:002020-12-03T16:11:27.922-08:00Thanks for the resource Stu! All my soldering joints were good the first time round so feeling pretty good about my new hobby so far. I'll just note for others that if you want to use a PG9 strain relief like pictured you'll need to file out the existing hole a bit and use a 8mm diameter cord. Any ideas on how much I should have to pay to have this done ... a ball park range is all I'm looking for. You never know how much a repair is going to cost once you get it to the amp doctor and I live on a mountain where it's quite a drive to a medium size city ... These are really cool amps but I would prefer the amp to be a really cool amp that is safe too. I've cut the 2-prong cord off so it cannot be plugged in.Timhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17569838203543009863noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2534195963488802319.post-47911062288300608052018-03-19T09:57:52.419-07:002018-03-19T09:57:52.419-07:00I'm thinking about putting a C14 snap in conne...I'm thinking about putting a C14 snap in connector so I can use a detachable standard computer power cord. Any difference in the wiring (assuming I know which is hot/live, neutral, and ground/earth on the back of the connector)? I think there's just enough room for it (13/16")between the transformer and the wooden support.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09659125794336546481noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2534195963488802319.post-45842887947141665082017-12-26T09:19:58.302-08:002017-12-26T09:19:58.302-08:00I used these as reference to give me the confidenc...I used these as reference to give me the confidence to convert my silvertone 1457 amp in case model to a 3 print plug. It was wired up the same, I'm now safely using it. If the fuse blows for any reason then absolutely everything from there on is safe. You could theoretically put the fuse after the switch, or even on the neutral side, but this seemed like the safest possible option. If you're specifically asking why it's connected to the back lug and not the front lug, then I figured that the internal connection to the back lug was the hardest to touch, so again this seemed like the safest option.
